Softball Plays In Virginia Wesleyan Beach Blast on Friday, Saturday Rained Out

Virginia Beach, Va. - The Meredith softball team is playing in the Virginia Wesleyan Beach Blast this weekend. Updates from the games with brief highlights below.

Friday - March 2

Meredith 3, York (Pa.) 2 - Carrie Webster earned the win from the circle for the Avenging Angels and Amanda Beirne picked up the save. Meredith's offensive was highlighted by Emily Cooke's deep three-run home run to center field scoring Lorri Cole and Leah Friedman.

Meredith 1, Stevenson 0 - Beirne threw a complete game one-hitter in route to a win for Meredith as the Avenging Angels won 1-0. Beirne had 12 strikeouts in the victory. Sara Cranford scored the winning run in the sixth inning after her single got her on base and a fielder's choice by Alex Warren scored Cranford.

Saturday - March 3

Meredith vs. York (N.Y.) - CANCELLED

Meredith vs. John Jay - CANCELLED

Meredith next plays at Lake Buena Vista, Fla. on March 7 in the Disney's 2012 Softball Spring Training tournament.
