LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Meredith College softball standouts Haley Ervin and Brittany Bucklin were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's (NFCA) Division III All-Atlantic Region team. Ervin earned placement on the second team as a designated player, and Bucklin received an at-large bid on the third team.
Both players led the Avenging Angels to the softball program's first USA South Regular Season Championship as the East Division leader. Additionally, the 2017 squad recorded a program-best 28 wins on the season.
Ervin earned All-USA South first team and All-East first team honors this spring for her consistency at the plate. She leads the conference with a .471 batting average with 40 hits in 85 at-bats in her 35 games played. She scored 22 runs with 13 stolen bases with the league's third-best on-base-percentage of .500.
Bucklin ranks second in the league with 45 runs batted in, eighth with 55 hits, and 11th with a .563 slugging percentage. As Meredith's starting third baseman, Bucklin ranks seventh in the USA South with 92 assists and recorded just four errors in 142 total chances this spring.
All-Region players are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the eight Division III regions. The committee awarded three 15-player teams in each region for a total of 360 NCAA Division III student-athletes.
The only other Avenging Angel to earn this recognition, alumna softball player Amanda White garnered All-Region honors on two occasions during her decorated four-year Meredith career.
