    In Saturday's USA South doubleheader Meredith College softball required nine innings in game one to down the Averett Cougars 8-7. But AU shut out the Avenging Angels 7-0 in game two to cap off the day.
  • Softball Angels Return from Spring Break to Split with Salem

    After a midweek, four-game stint in Kissimmee, Florida, the Meredith College softball Angels returned to USA South Conference play versus the Salem Spirits. Bryce Smith drives in five RBI on two hits to lead Meredith to a 9-3 victory in game one, but a three-run Salem homer in game two finishes off the split.
  • Softball Struggles to Keep Pace in Day Two of Sun Kissed Games

    In Wednesday's day-two of the Sun Kissed Games, the Meredith College softball Angels struggled to keep pace with their opponents. The Montclair State Red Hawks finished off Meredith 7-2, and Aurora University jumped out early for a 5-0 victory over the Avenging Angels.
  • Softball Splits Day One of Sun Kissed Games

    Meredith College split in day one of two at the Sun Kissed Games in Florida today with a 5-3 loss to the Illinois Lady Blues, followed by a 14-4 clinic over WPI. Both games ended in a walk-off homer, including a three-RBI dinger from Eran Artigues in game two.
  • Defensive Blunder Leaves Softball Angels with a Split

    Meredith College recorded a split with the USA South's Methodist Monarchs on a 3-2 loss in game one followed by an 8-0, five-inning victory. Maria Annunziata led with four hits on the day, and Myah Morse earned her 10th career win in the circle.
  • Angels and Bishops Split to Open USA South Schedule

    In Saturday's USA South Conference opener Meredith College softball split the day with the visiting N.C. Wesleyan Bishops. The Avenging Angels captured a 3-1 victory in game one, and Wesleyan rallied in the sixth inning of game two to secure the split.
  • Big Hits at Guilford Lead to 7-6 Angels Win; Game Two Suspended
    February 28, 2018
    A seventh-inning, three-run homer from Eran Artigues led to a 7-6 Meredith College victory over the host Guilford Quakers Wednesday afternoon. Game two was suspended due to darkness at 9-9 in the bottom of the fourth frame. A combined eight home runs, six doubles in 46 hits defined the exciting doubleheader.
  • Jackson/Ruffin Earn USA South Weekly Honors

    Two Meredith College Avenging Angels earned a weekly nod Monday from the USA South Conference. Taylor Jackson collected her first Softball Pitcher of the Week honor this season, and Cameron Ruffin collected her second nod as Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Jackson Leads with 4-0 No-Hitter; Angels Sweep McDaniel

    In Sunday's non-conference softball doubleheader action, Meredith College senior Taylor Jackson pitched a near perfect 4-0 no-hitter to open the day. She picked up her first save of the season as she closed out the win for Myah Morse in a five-inning, 8-0 victory for the sweep.
  • Annunziata's Grand Slam Delivers a 9-0 Win; Wasps Force Split with 7-0 Nightcap

    The Meredith College softball team capped off the day in a split with the visiting Emory & Henry Wasps. The Angels opened with a 9-0 offensive performance, and the visitors finished with a 7-0 no-hitter in game two.

  • Softball Sweeps Shaw in Home Opener

    The Meredith College softball Angels opened at home Thursday with a pair of wins over local rival Shaw University. Taylor Jackson recorded a three-hitter shutout with a 4-0 win in game one in her 37th career win, and Myah Morse notched an 8-0, six-inning one-hitter in the nightcap.
  • Defending Champs Hold Off Softball for a Sweep on Opening Day

    The top-ranked and defending Division III National Champion Virginia Wesleyan Marlins held off Meredith College softball on Sunday's opening day, 5-1 and 12-2 (5-innings). Senior pitcher Taylor Jackson opened the day with a strong showing in the circle in game one, but shaky gloves on the Meredith defense allowed the Marlins a quick win in the nightcap.

  • Maziejka Joins Meredith Athletics Staff

    Athletic Director Jackie Myers recently announced the addition of Samantha Maziejka (ma JAKE uh) to the Meredith College athletics department as the assistant athletic director for advancement. The position was added to the staff last August as part of the NCAA Division III Strategic Alliance Matching Grant.
  • Scavone's Softball Tabbed First in East Division Preseason Poll

    The reigning East Division Champion Meredith College softball Angels were selected in the USA South Preseason Coaches Poll to finish first again this year. With the 2017 Coach of the Year Kim Scavone at the helm for her eighth season, alongside nine senior players, the Avenging Angels collected six of nine first place votes with the other three votes casted for last year's tournament winner, the Averett Cougars.
  • Meredith Basketball Hosts Championship Celebration
    January 13, 2018
    The visiting N.C. Wesleyan Bishops shut down the Meredith College basketball team in the fourth quarter to capture a 72-59 victory in Weatherspoon Gymnasium Saturday. During halftime of the USA South contest, the athletics department celebrated the success of eight championship teams between fall 2015 and fall 2017.

  • Meredith College Student-Athletes Donate Food to Raleigh Rescue Mission
    November 17, 2017
    Efforts from the Meredith College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will provide the Raleigh Rescue Mission with more than 1500 items of non-perishable food this holiday season. The Avenging Angels collected the items as part of the USA South SAAC's service initiative Cans Across the Conference, a competition among member schools to effect change in communities across the league's six-state footprint.
  • A Tribute to Doc Huber

    Meredith College athletics mourns the loss of longtime softball coach, Dr. Jack "Doc" Huber. A beloved psychology professor, he retired in 2011 after more than 30 years of service to Meredith College. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in Jones Chapel.
  • New Slate of SAAC Officers Readies for the Year

    The Meredith College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) introduced a new slate of officers Wednesday. Senior lacrosse forward Carlee Joseph will lead the group as organization president. Senior volleyball setter Hannah Blaylock will serve as vice-president, and her teammate Haley Reeg, a junior middle blocker, will serve as secretary of the group.

    The Meredith College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be sponsored by two new athletics staff members beginning fall 2017 in Head Softball Coach Kim Scavone and Assistant Cross Country/Track & Field Coach Gene Meade. The two look forward to offering fresh perspective to the Avenging Angels in an effort to re-energize the NCAA-driven organization.
  • Online Access Ready for Student-Athlete Forms

    The online portal for new and returning Meredith College student-athletes to complete or update required medical forms is now available. Additionally, new Avenging Angels should complete the student-athlete profile form and register FREE with the NCAA Eligibility Center. The schedule for required ImPact and prescreening testing should also be reviewed.
  • Edwards Assumes Leadership Role with Meredith Sports Medicine
    July 24, 2017
    Meredith College Athletic Director Jackie Myers recently announced the promotion of Rebecca Edwards to interim head athletic trainer. A two-year assistant with the Avenging Angels sports medicine staff, Edwards succeeded Tammy Holleman, who left the college to pursue other opportunities.
