Edwards, Hinton Garner USA South Honors

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Meredith College basketball sophomore standout McKenzi Edwards earned honorable mention distinction in the USA South women's basketball awards announced Wednesday from the conference office. Rookie Kim Hinton represents the Avenging Angels on the coveted All-Sportsmanship team.

Sidelined by injury early in the season, Edwards returned to the lineup just before the New Year and made an immediate impact. In 19 games played she averaged nearly 16 points, 4.0 assists and 3.1 steals per contest and led the team in scoring on 12 occasions. Edwards currently ranks third among USA South players in scoring per game and seventh with a .498 shooting percentage.

Hinton earned a starting spot in 13 of her 25 games played as a freshman and supported the team on both ends of the court. She averaged 3.9 points and 4.0 rebounds in her 15.3 minutes played per game.

Greensboro's Bianca Richburg earned the USA South Player of the Year, Maryville's Mackenzie Puckett Rookie of the Year and Ferrum's Bryan Harvey garnered 2013 Coach of the Year honors. Link here for the complete list of USA South women's basketball honors.
