Lacrosse Claims 13-7 Win Over Agnes Scott
RALEIGH, N.C. - The Meredith lacrosse team captured a 13-7 win over USA South foe Agnes Scott College in today's home contest. The Avenging Angels move to an even 2-2 on the season, all versus conference opponents, and the Scotties dropped to 1-2 overall (0-2 USA South).
Agnes Scott's Caroline Recio netted back-to-back goals to tie the match at 21:48.
Burnet hit two more to earn a hat trick and fed MacKenzie Smith for her second career goal to reclaim the lead.
A misstep by the Avenging Angel's offense led to a successful clear and a goal for the Scotties, still down by two.
Burnet controlled the draw on the next play and Meredith's Lottie Meadows quickly scored on an assist from Smith. Meadows scored another pair of goals to help the Avenging Angels secure a 9-4 lead going into the break.
After the intermission Burnet and Meadows continued to drive the Meredith offense, and the Avenging Angels cruised to a victory.
Keeper Andie Stuber recorded 10 saves in the win for the hosts, and Scottie keeper Ashley Holder posted nine for ASC.
Burnet finished the game with seven goals in 14 attempts and Meadows added four.
Agnes Scott's Recio and teammate Lexi Pulice-Farrow netted three goals apiece in the loss.
Meredith continues the home series playing host to N.C. Wesleyan Wednesday, March 6, in a 5 p.m. contest under the lights.
