Lacrosse Falls 14-10 to Randolph
LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Randolph College WildCats claimed a 14-10 victory over Meredith in today's non-conference women's lacrosse event in Virginia. The Avenging Angels fell to 3-4 with the loss and Randolph's (3-2) win marked the team's third straight.
Randolph scored five consecutive goals during the next seven minutes to take a 5-1 advantage.
The Avenging Angels continued to battle and netted the next three scores from Burnet and Lottie Meadows to pull Meredith to within one with just under five minutes remaining in the half.
The hosts' Ashley Edwards assisted Taylor Klevenz in the next possession to carry a two-point edge into the break.
After the intermission Randolph put together a 7-2 run to cruise to a seven-point lead.
Meadows scored three of the next five goals but the WildCats maintained control down the stretch.
Burnet finished the day with five goals in 10 attempts and grabbed a game high five draw controls. Meadows matched her career-high with four goals, adding a trio of draws.
Meredith keeper Andie Stuber tallied eight saves in the loss, and Samantha Fagone totaled 11 for Randolph.
The Avenging Angels travel next to Roanoke, Virginia, for a non-league pairing with Hollins University Wednesday, March 13, before hosting a three-game series at home beginning with USA South foe Greensboro College.
