RALEIGH, N.C. -- Meredith College lacrosse players Carlee Joseph and Holly Hite collected Division III All-Chesapeake Region honors Friday as announced from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. Joseph's first team selection marks her second such honor, and Hite was named to the Chesapeake region's second team.
Both players will lead the Avenging Angels in NCAA Tournament action tomorrow afternoon in a 1 p.m. pairing with the nationally ranked Mary Washington Eagles. The winner advances to Sunday's contest with the host Washington & Lee Generals, ranked second in the latest Division III national poll. Follow the live action HERE.
A junior attack recognized often for her offensive prowess, Joseph leads an offense that ranks third nationally in scoring margin, points per game, and win percentage. She leads the USA South Athletic Conference with 66 goals, 84 points, and 119 shots, and still manages to contribute on the defensive end as well. Joseph earned her second league Player of the Year honor last month and was recently awarded Academic All-District® honors by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for her strong performance in the classroom as well.
Hite leads the conference with 105 draw controls, which is 40 more than the second-best player in the league. She ranks second behind Joseph with 57 goals and 102 shots. Hite was named this year's USA South Tournament Most Valuable Player.
