  • Lax Angels Glide Past Greensboro 24-4

    In Tuesday's USA South women's lacrosse match, Meredith College showed no mercy in a 24-4 victory over the Greensboro Pride to remain undefeated in the conference. Led by Carlee Joseph who scored 5-of-5 shots attempted, the Avenging Angels outshot the hosts 32-6 to dominate the match.
  • Meredith Lacrosse Sweeps Weekly League Honors

    As announced Monday afternoon from the conference office, Meredith College swept the weekly selections for USA South women's lacrosse. Holly Hite, Sarah Arbes, and Lilia Cruz earned recognition for the Avenging Angels.
  • Lacrosse Handles Lions with Ease, 22-3

    In Saturday's USA South action, Meredith College lacrosse handed the visiting Piedmont College Lions their first conference loss today with a 22-3 finish. Julie Capretti and Lilia Cruz led the Avenging Angels with six points apiece.
  • Lacrosse Angels Cruise to 21-5 Victory Over Methodist

    The Meredith College lacrosse Angels returned to USA South action Wednesday evening to capture a 21-5 home victory over Methodist. Rookie Lilia Cruz led the match with nine points on five goals, four assists, and ranks third in the league with 15 career assists.
  • CNU Battles Back to Edge MC Lax 16-15

    The host Christopher Newport Captains compiled a 10-4 second half performance to edge Meredith College lacrosse 16-15 Saturday afternoon. Carlee Joseph led the Avenging Angels with four goals, and Holly Hite gathered a game-high 10 draw controls.
  • Lacrosse Falls Short in 13-10 Battle with No. 11 Cards

    In Thursday's non-conference lacrosse action versus The Catholic University of America, ranked 11th in the most recent national Division III poll, Meredith College fell just short in a 13-10 battle. Holly Hite led the Avenging Angels with three goals and eight draw controls.

    The Meredith College lacrosse Angels lost a 12-11 heartbreaker to No. 11 Mary Washington Sunday afternoon. Holly Hite led MC Lax with five goals, five draw controls in the match.
  • Hite Scores in OT to Slant Win Towards MC Lax

    Holly Hite's free position goal in the final seconds of overtime secured a sudden victory for Meredith College lacrosse over the visiting Lynchburg Hornets. She contributed from one end of the field to the other with four goals, six draw controls, seven ground balls, and five caused turnovers.
  • Jackson/Ruffin Earn USA South Weekly Honors

    Two Meredith College Avenging Angels earned a weekly nod Monday from the USA South Conference. Taylor Jackson collected her first Softball Pitcher of the Week honor this season, and Cameron Ruffin collected her second nod as Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.

    Senior Carlee Joseph scored four goals with two assists to lead Meredith College lacrosse to a 17-5 victory over new-to-USA South Pfeiffer University Saturday.

  • Hite Sets New Meredith Record with 193 Career Draw Controls; Angels Win 19-0

    Junior Meredith College standout Holly Hite set a new all-time record for the Avenging Angels lacrosse program with 193 career draw controls. Hite recorded five draws in Wednesday's 19-0 victory at the USA South's N.C. Wesleyan.
  • Joseph/Ruffin Earn Conference Lacrosse Honors

    Meredith College lacrosse opened the 2018 season with a pair of wins, both versus USA South opponents, and Carlee Joseph and Cameron Ruffin earned a weekly nod as a result. Joseph was named the Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week and Ruffin the Defensive Player of the Week.

    In the second match of the season, Meredith College lacrosse made easy work of the host LaGrange Panthers for a 26-3 victory. The Avenging Angels hold a slight lead in early USA South standings as the only team to play and win two league matches.

    In Saturday's season opener the Meredith College lacrosse Angels did not miss a beat in a 19-0 shutout over fellow USA South member Huntingdon College. Carlee Joseph led the efforts with seven points on the day.

  • Maziejka Joins Meredith Athletics Staff
    February 16, 2018
    Athletic Director Jackie Myers recently announced the addition of Samantha Maziejka (ma JAKE uh) to the Meredith College athletics department as the assistant athletic director for advancement. The position was added to the staff last August as part of the NCAA Division III Strategic Alliance Matching Grant.
  • Reigning Champion Angels Tabbed to Win Again

    The reigning USA South Championship Meredith College Angels were selected as the top women's lacrosse program in their fourth consecutive preseason poll, as announced Wednesday from the league office. During the program's short five-year history, all under the direction of two-time Coach of the Year Lauren Scott, MC Lax has collected four conference tournament championships and two regular season crowns.
  • Meredith Basketball Hosts Championship Celebration
    January 13, 2018
    The visiting N.C. Wesleyan Bishops shut down the Meredith College basketball team in the fourth quarter to capture a 72-59 victory in Weatherspoon Gymnasium Saturday. During halftime of the USA South contest, the athletics department celebrated the success of eight championship teams between fall 2015 and fall 2017.

  • Meredith College Student-Athletes Donate Food to Raleigh Rescue Mission
    November 17, 2017
    Efforts from the Meredith College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will provide the Raleigh Rescue Mission with more than 1500 items of non-perishable food this holiday season. The Avenging Angels collected the items as part of the USA South SAAC's service initiative Cans Across the Conference, a competition among member schools to effect change in communities across the league's six-state footprint.
  • A Tribute to Doc Huber

    Meredith College athletics mourns the loss of longtime softball coach, Dr. Jack "Doc" Huber. A beloved psychology professor, he retired in 2011 after more than 30 years of service to Meredith College. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in Jones Chapel.
  • New Slate of SAAC Officers Readies for the Year

    The Meredith College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) introduced a new slate of officers Wednesday. Senior lacrosse forward Carlee Joseph will lead the group as organization president. Senior volleyball setter Hannah Blaylock will serve as vice-president, and her teammate Haley Reeg, a junior middle blocker, will serve as secretary of the group.

    The Meredith College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be sponsored by two new athletics staff members beginning fall 2017 in Head Softball Coach Kim Scavone and Assistant Cross Country/Track & Field Coach Gene Meade. The two look forward to offering fresh perspective to the Avenging Angels in an effort to re-energize the NCAA-driven organization.
  • Lacrosse Team and Three Individual Players Awarded Academic Honors

    The Meredith College lacrosse team earned distinction as a 2017 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad as announced Wednesday afternoon. Carlee Joseph, Jennifer Halvorson, and Cameron Ruffin were also named to the Division III Academic Honor Roll.
  • Online Access Ready for Student-Athlete Forms
    July 24, 2017
    The online portal for new and returning Meredith College student-athletes to complete or update required medical forms is now available. Additionally, new Avenging Angels should complete the student-athlete profile form and register FREE with the NCAA Eligibility Center. The schedule for required ImPact and prescreening testing should also be reviewed.
  • Edwards Assumes Leadership Role with Meredith Sports Medicine

    Meredith College Athletic Director Jackie Myers recently announced the promotion of Rebecca Edwards to interim head athletic trainer. A two-year assistant with the Avenging Angels sports medicine staff, Edwards succeeded Tammy Holleman, who left the college to pursue other opportunities.
