RALEIGH, N.C. - Senior midfielder Kimberly Williams scored a goal in the second overtime period Sunday to defeat Berry and give the Angels the Meredith Labor Day Classic championship.
Berry sealed a 1-0 win Saturday versus Guilford to claim second. After losing to Meredith 9-0 in the opening day, Agnes Scott went on to defeat the Quakers 2-0 Sunday to capture third place.
Junior Eliza Evans notched a hat trick in the tournament opener to set the tone for the weekend action. She picked up an assist in the second period with freshman Brittany Millice to give Anna Smither her first goal of the season.
Keeper Kimberly Hopper claimed two shutouts with five saves on the weekend.
Meredith hosts Birmingham Southern, Emory, and Johns Hopkins in the National Invitational next weekend. Play begins Friday evening at 5:00 pm with Meredith and the Panthers.
