RALEIGH, N.C. - Meredith College Head Women's Soccer Coach Paul Smith announced the addition of 13 players to this year's squad.
Entering his 11th season with the Avenging Angels, Smith and his team welcome 11 freshmen and a pair of transfers, including one recruit from Miami, Florida. The remaining dozen women represent all three regions of North Carolina, including seven from the Triangle-area.
Eighteen of last year's USA South semi-final team will return to the turf in August, including six 2012 All-Conference recipients.
"We hope to once again challenge for the USA South Athletic Conference title," said Smith. "This year's quality mix of 31 new and returning players should be one of the deepest and best teams for Meredith in the last ten seasons."
The Avenging Angels open the 2013 slate at Virginia Wesleyan on August 31 and host the Meredith Classic the following weekend. Guilford, Salem and SUNY New Paltz will vie for the Avenging Angel Championship beginning September 7 at Noon.
