Virginia Beach, Va. -- The Meredith College soccer Angels fell short in a 3-1 loss at Virginia Wesleyan Saturday afternoon. Jessica Wallace scored her first goal on the season in the 24th minute of the match unassisted.
VWC out paced the Avenging Angels with 28 shots compared to just three for Meredith, each of which came from Wallace.
The Marlins scored first with a shot from Mia Meinhardt across the field to the far corner of the box. Wallace tied the match, but Katie Roberts lobbed one in over the defense to give the hosts a 2-1 lead heading into the break.
A breakaway pass from Marlin Anna Krussow down field to Anna Pedicone gave Pedicone enough room to wind around Meredith keeper Jaisa Loch for the final point on the day.
Loch recorded 11 stops in her second loss on the day, and Alicia Zamora posted the win for Virginia Wesleyan.
The Angels remain on the road next week to face off with the Washington & Lee Generals in Lexington, Virginia, Wednesday afternoon. Link HERE for live action.
