LEXINGTON, Va. -- The host Washington & Lee Generals handed Meredith College soccer a 4-0 loss in Wednesday afternoon's non-conference pairing. After an 80 minute lightning delay, the teams finally kicked off at 5:40 p.m. at Watt Field.
W & L jumped off to a quick start scoring in the second minute of the match by Sydney Von Rosenberg. Their second point came off of a free kick with a header into the box by Megan Engeland less than 18 minutes later.
Meredith's Kayla Boudreau launched an attempt at the 21-minute mark, but Generals keeper Leeann Passaro recorded her only stop of the match on the play.
WLU took control of the match during the second period with eight corner kicks and 17 shots, including two more netters for the shut out.
Avenging Angels keeper Jaisa Loch recorded her second consecutive loss with eight saves on the day, and Passaro's win was her third this season.
Meredith returns to the Angels Den Saturday for the first in a weekend doubleheader versus USA South foe Greensboro College at 2:30 p.m. League member LaGrange will face off with the Avenging Angels Sunday at Noon. Follow the action live HERE.
