Tennis Finishes Regular Season With 9-0 Win Over Ferrum
Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith tennis team finished their regular season on Friday afternoon with a 9-0 win over the Ferrum Panthers. The Avenging Angels finish with a 15-4 overall record and a 8-1 USA South Conference record and will finish no lower than second place in the conference. Senior Ashley Pearsall was honored during the match as a four year senior for the tennis team.
Meredith took the easy wins in doubles play to take the quick 3-0 lead. #1 Mary Lawrence Newton/Betty Edwards won 8-3, #2 Mollie Musgrave/Pearsall won 8-1 and #3 Chelsie Packer/Meg Crumpton took the 8-2 win.
In singles play, the Avenging Angels only lost three combined games. Two set 6-0, 6-0 sweeps were completed by #3 Newton, #4 Pearsall, #5 Edwards and #6 Musgrave. #1 Puja Patel took her match 6-0, 6-1 and #2 Caroline Hunt won 6-2, 6-0.
Meredith now waits for the official seeding as they head to the USA South conference tournament.
