Tennis Sweeps Mary Baldwin in Conference Opener

STAUNTON, Va. - The Meredith College tennis team opened the 2013 USA South Conference season Friday afternoon with a 9-0 sweep over host Mary Baldwin.

Hunt moved up to no. 1 singles and freshman Shruti Bajpai filled in at no. 6 singles in her career debut. MBC's Lotosha Gough pushed Bajpai to a 7-5 first-set win, before the Avenging Angel rookie finished the match on a 6-0 second set sweep.

The four other traditional singles starters for Meredith, Mary Lawrence Newton, Edwards, Musgrave and Brennan, moved up a flight and completed the sweep for the Avenging Angels.

The team travels to Averett Sunday for a Noon start versus the Cougars.
