Thomas/Rhoney Set New Meredith Track & Field Standards at Winthrop Adidas Invite

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The newest varsity sports program at Meredith College of track & field continues to develop through the second season. Rookies Essence Thomas and Amy Rhoney set a pair new all-time Meredith records Friday at the Winthrop Adidas Invitational.

With a mark of 26.75 seconds in the 200m sprint, Thomas improved her personal best by 0.04 to establish the new all-time pace for the Avenging Angels. Rhoney delivered a 9.75m throw in the shot put to best her previous toss by 0.70m and improve the college record by 0.26m.

In the 800m run both Macy Brinson and Breanna Hollar set new personal records, Brinson with 2:42.65 and Hollar with 2:46.97. Brinson's time of 5:31.64 in the 1500m race set a new season record and fell just two seconds shy of a career best. Megan Evans raced alongside Brinson in the 1500m and crossed the line in 5:45.51 for a new PR in the event.

Meredith travels next Friday to Bridgewater, Va., for the Doc Jopson Invite.
