Track Angels Record Career-Best Performances at Camel Invite

BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Several Meredith track & field student-athletes set new career-best performances in this weekend's Camel Invite at Campbell University. The team will close out the 2017 season April 20 in Durham at the All Coast Championship with Covenant, Gallaudet, Methodist, Piedmont, and Pfeiffer.

In Friday's day-one action Demonica Stanley, Amy Rhoney, and Taylor Wilson finished two-three-four in the shot put with Wilson throwing a career-best with 6.52m.

Rhoney threw for a career-best mark of 27.00m in the discuss improving her previous best from the Braves Classic by 1.31m. Stanley won the team's newest event of javelin with a mark of 25.96m, and Rhoney improved her distance by nearly four meters for a new career-best. Wilson also set a new personal best throwing 13.49m for a 3.09m improvement.

New to the event this year, Macy Brinson led the Angels 800m participants with a time of 2:41.87 for a new personal best. Kiara Glover finished next, and Breanna Hollar and Megan Evans rounded out the field for the Angels.

Brinson placed sixth in the 1500m race, also setting a new career best and all-time Meredith record with a time of 5:24.03.
