    Meredith Athletics Kicks Off Pennies for a Purpose Fundraiser The Meredith College Athletics Department has kicked off its annual spring fundraiser “Pennies for a Purpose” in an effort to help a nonprofit of their choice. All proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will go towards the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society.

    Hatcher Represents Meredith at NCAA Convention Senior tennis player and Meredith College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President Laura Anne Hatcher joined 24 other USA South student-athletes last week at the NCAA Convention in Nashville, Tenn. For the first time the conference used NCAA grant funds to send a cohort of athletes to the annual event.

    Volleyball to Play Juniata in NCAA Regional The Meredith College volleyball Angels will travel to the University of Mary Washington Friday for the NCAA Division III Regionals this weekend. The Avenging Angels swept Averett in the USA South championship match last Saturday in order to earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament and will face off with Juniata College in the 3 p.m. match.

    NCAA DIII Volleyball Tournament Selection Show Monday, Nov. 7 The Meredith College Avenging Angels earned the program's first-ever USA South Tournament Championship Saturday with a 3-0 sweep over the top-seeded Averett Cougars and earned the league's automatic qualifyer to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Monday, Nov. 7 at 12:30 p.m. the NCAA will announce the volleyball tournament selections via a live stream on ncaa.com.

Tournament Most Valuable Player Hannah Blaylock led the match with 39 assists, adding nine digs.

    Corey Leads Volleyball Awards as USA South Rookie of the Year Outside hitter Caroline Corey led a six-member-cast of the Meredith College volleyball team in this year's USA South Conference awards as the 2016 Rookie of the Year. Under the direction of 10-year Head Coach Fiona Barkley, the Avenging Angels completed the regular season 23-2 overall and 14-1 in league play for the fewest losses in program history.

    Lynch Records 1000th Career Dig in 3-1 Loss to Cougars In a battle for the USA South East Division Regular Season title, the Meredith College Avenging Angels volleyball team lost 3-1 (22-25, 23-25, 25-19, 18-25) to the host Averett Cougars Saturday. The loss ended a 14-game winning streak for the Angels, who finished second behind the undefeated Cougars in the regular season.

The Avenging Angels posted a 2-0 record last week with straight-set wins over William Peace and Ferrum to remain a perfect 12-0 in the conference and 20-2 overall.

    Pattison Leads Angels in 3-0 Victory Over Panthers Senior right side hitter Elizabeth Pattison notched an impressive .846 hitting percentage with 11 kills in just 13 attempts and no errors to lead the Meredith College volleyball team in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-10) victory over the visiting Ferrum Panthers Saturday afternoon. The win marked MCVB's 12th consecutive to move to 12-0 in USA South play.

    Volleyball Opens Fall Break with 3-0 Win Over Monarchs The Wednesday night before Meredith College's fall recess, the Avenging Angels volleyball team downed the visiting Methodist Monarchs 3-0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-23) to remain perfect in the USA South and tied for first with Averett in East Division standings.     Blaylock Sets All-Time Meredith Assist Record as Angels Win Two The Meredith College volleyball Angels handled the Maryville Scots in straight sets (28-26, 25-15, 25-21) before finishing off Salem College 3-1 in Saturday's USA South play day. Junior Hannah Blaylock set a new all-time Meredith volleyball record with 2493 career assists, set back in 2008 by Laura Sayabouth.

    Volleyball Picked Second in Preseason Poll The Meredith College volleyball program was picked in the USA South Preseason Coaches Poll to finish second in the East Division behind rival Averett as announced Thursday from the conference office. Defending tournament and divisional champion Covenant earned the top spot in the West Division.
