Volleyball Extends Record to 7-0

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College volleyball squad extended its undefeated record to 7-0 with a pair of non-conference wins on the campus of William Peace Saturday. The Avenging Angels defeated St. Augustine's 4-1 (25-21, 25-15, 23-25, 25-17) before sweeping the Quakers of Guilford 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-15). Rookie outside hitter Caroline Corey led all with 21 kills, hitting .513 versus the Falcons and finished her day with 13 in the win over GC.

Along with the offensive production Head Coach Fiona Barkley is receiving from Corey, middle blocker Alex Hafliger and outside Karlie Long continue to threaten their opponents as well. The pair combined for 25 kills on the day to go along with seven blocks from Hafliger.

Elizabeth Pattison on the right side and Haley Reeg in the middle add to the Meredith attack, as lead setter Hannah Blaylock combined for 59 assists. Blaylock added five kills in just six attempts versus Guilford to keep her opponents guessing.

Defensively, Keegan Lynch continues to direct the back row efforts with 35 digs. Setter Katie Keen finished the day with 19 digs, adding 24 assists for MCVB.

Meredith finally opens at home next Wednesday, Sept. 14 playing host to Elizabeth City State University at 7 p.m. in Weatherspoon Gym. Follow the action live HERE.
