Lynch Serves for New NCAA Record in 3-0 Victory

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Meredith College volleyball senior libero Keegan Lynch set a new NCAA Division III record* serving 24 consecutive points in set two of tonight's 3-0 (25-15, 25-0-25-13) victory over the visiting Elizabeth City State University Vikings. The Avenging Angels extended their season-opening run to 8-0 with the win.

Lynch's 10 service aces rank third all-time at Meredith, and she led the match with a dozen digs as well.

Meredith outplayed the Vikings beginning with the first set. The visitors had no answer for outside hitter Caroline Corey who dominated the line with 12 kills on just 15 attempts in her two sets played. Haley Reeg continues to gain confidence in the middle and finished with 7 kills in 15 attempts. Freshman Cathy Delano filled in for Alex Hafliger opposite Reeg and tallied two kills in three attempts on the night.

Freshmen Sam Smith and Elisabeth Smith earned court time and combined for nine kills, while Hannah Blaylock and Katie Keen handled the court with 32 total assists.

ECSU's Auzheure Jackson led the Vikings with five kills, eight digs in the loss.

The Avenging Angels travel to Bridgewater Saturday for a tri-match with Washington & Lee. Follow the action live HERE.
