Volleyball Angels Advance to First USA South Championship and Will Face Averett

DANVILLE, Va. -- A 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-17) sweep over the West's fourth-seeded LaGrange Panthers sends the East's second-seeded Meredith College volleyball team into Saturday's USA South Championship. The Avenging Angels will face the East's top-seeded Averett Cougars at 2 p.m. for the program's first chance at a conference title.

Averett slipped past the West's second-seeded Maryville Scots in a 3-2 thriller in Friday's second semifinal pairing in AU's Grant Center to advance.

A balanced attack helped the Angels handle LaGrange in today's semifinal with right side hitter Elizabeth Pattison leading the way with 11 kills in just 17 attempts. Karlie Long and Caroline Corey combined for 17 kills from the outside, and Haley Reeg added seven from the middle. Alex Hafliger notched five kills in nine attempts with four blocks.

Setter Hannah Blaylock distributed a match-high 37 assists, adding six digs. Keegan Lynch recorded 10 digs, and Jessica Goodwin finished with nine.
