Cross Country Headed to NCAA Regional Championships

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Meredith Cross Country team will head to the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship meet this weekend in Hampton, Georgia. The top seven Avenging Angel harriers will compete in the 6,000 meter race at Nash Farm Battlefield beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10.

Of the 33 schools scheduled to participate, Meredith will be one of five USA South representatives. After a strong second-place team finish at the USA South Championships October 27, Meredith looks to a fast-paced competition in Georgia.

Senior leader Morgan Youd earned the program's best-ever individual finish in the league finals garnering fifth-place among the 70 runners.

Freshmen Maggie Robinson, Allie Gallagher and Illa Jones stood at the top for Meredith cross country runners throughout the season and show promise for continued success for the Avenging Angels.

Sophomore Ashley Kate Kesler, junior Lara Pantlin and senior leader Megan Beebe round out the top seven Meredith runners who will take their mark Saturday. Caitlin Dorantich will travel as the team's alternate.

The top two teams secure a trip to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana, November 17. Additionally, the top five finishers in Saturday's race independent of the qualifying teams will also move on to the National Championship meet.
