RALEIGH, N.C. - Meredith College Head Cross Country Coach Amy Olsen released the 2013 slate Thursday. The Avenging Angel harriers will compete locally just once this fall on Friday, September 20, at Cary's WakeMed cross country course.
The team opens the fall season in Laurinburg at the St. Andrew's Invitational August 30 followed by the annual trip to Wilmington for the evening run at UNC-W's Seahawk Invitational the next weekend.
New to this year's lineup will be a 5K race at Division II Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina.
Closing out the regular season, Olsen and her team will travel to familiar Hagan Stone Park for the 30th Annual Greensboro XC Invitational. The Avenging Angels led the field of Division III teams last year.
In preparation of the 6K USA South conference championships in November, Meredith will travel to Christopher Newport October 12 for the only other race of that distance this year.
Meredith alumna Morgan Youd finished last year's NCAA South/Southeast Regionals in the top 35 each of her last years with the Avenging Angels, and Olsen expects her 2013 squad to continue the tradition.
