Rookie Perez Sets Pace for Angels at Furman XC Classic

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Meredith College cross country rookie Karen Perez led the Angels in the 6,000 meter Furman Classic Saturday morning. With a time of 26:05.56, Perez reached 16th on Meredith's Top-25 list.

Macy Brinson followed Perez to score second for the Avenging Angels with a time of 26:34.24. Caroline Diorio and Megan Evans scored third and fourth for Meredith, and freshman Emma Travis closed out the top-five with a pace of 28:24.78.

Ana Lucia Rodriguez-Salazar and Meredith Wyatt also competed for the Angels.

Meredith cross country remains close to home next weekend for the Adidas Cross Country Challenge at Cary's WakeMed Park. The women's 5,000 meter race is set to start at 5:35 p.m. Friday.
