RALEIGH, N.C. -- Meredith College Athletics Director Jackie Myers welcomed Elizabeth "Liz" Knight as the program's new assistant athletic trainer just in time for Wednesday's arrival of fall student-athletes.
Knight comes to Meredith after a four-year stint at Winston-Salem State University where she served as an assistant trainer for the Rams. She stepped in as the interim head for three months last year as well but enjoys the supporting role of assistant.
While providing care for WSSU athletes, Knight managed records for all program insurance claims. She served as the primary liaison between billing and athletic training to ensure a smooth and accurate claims process. Knight also managed all intake paperwork for athletes at the beginning of each year and served as the staff CPR/AED and first aid instructor for annual certification updates.
In addition to her position in athletics, Knight served as a part-time instructor at WSSU teaching a variety of sports medicine courses for the university's academic minor.She garnered two staff awards while while with Winston-Salem State.
Knight earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. She earned a Master of Science in athletic training from Lenoir-Rhyne University. Directly following her graduation from UNC, Knight earned an EMT-Basic certification, and she extended her first aid training to include mental health.
