  • Fifty-Two Angels Earn All-Academic; Fourteen with Distinction

    The USA South Conference awarded fifty-two Meredith College Avenging Angels All-Academic honors as announced recently from the league office. Fourteen Angels received a "With Distinction" notation due to exceptional academic success.
  • Avenging Angels Celebrate Yearlong Successes

    Meredith College Athletics Director Jackie Myers hosted the Annual Athletics Awards Ceremony Wednesday, May 1, to recognize student-athletes with academic and athletic honors. Junior volleyball player Samantha Smith collected the program's Dean Burris Student-Athlete Award, and senior lacrosse midfielder Holly Hite garnered the Athlete of the Year.
  • Softball's Storied Journey Ends Early

    The East sixth-seed Meredith College softball team's storied USA South Tournament run ended early with a 9-1, five-inning loss to the West third-seed Huntingdon Hawks Saturday. Kelsey Mabe scored unearned early in the first as Meredith's only run on the day.
  • Salem Jumps Ahead for an 11-6 Win Over Softball Angels in Tournament Action

    The East sixth-seed Meredith College softball Angels lost Friday's USA South Tournament pairing 11-6 to the East's third-seed Salem Spirits. MCSB will drop to the losers' bracket to face off with the West Division's third-seed Huntingdon Hawks Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at the Shuford Softball Complex in LaGrange, Georgia.

  • Softball Knocks Off Bishops with Two-Game Sweep in USA South Division Playoff

    The six-seed Meredith College Angels knocked off the top-seed N.C. Wesleyan Bishops in Thursday's USA South Softball East Division Playoff series. MCSB will advance to next weekend's double-elimination tournament in LaGrange, Georgia, as part of the league's Spring Festival.

    The Meredith College Avenging Angels will enter the 2019 USA South Softball Tournament as the East Division six-seed and will faceoff with the East's top-seed N.C. Wesleyan Bishops Thursday, April 18, at 2 p.m. in Rocky Mount.
  • Softball Claims One in Senior Day Doubleheader

    The Meredith College softball Angels wrapped up the 2019 regular season with a 7-5 victory over William Peace in game one of Sunday's USA South doubleheader. The Pacers closed out the regular season with a 7-1 finish in game two. Seniors Charley Cox and Rachel Peel were recognized before the first pitch.
  • Spring Sport Senior Day Celebrations Shift

    While we welcome spring rains to wash away another layer of pollen, Mother Nature continues to interfere with Senior Day celebrations for Meredith College spring sports. Most recently, Friday's tennis match scheduled at home versus Salem College has been postponed until Tuesday, April 16.
  • Coleman Swings for Five RBI as Softball Sweeps Bears

    As the Meredith College Avenging Angels near the end of regular season play, the team picked up a pair of non-conference wins Wednesday versus nearby Shaw University. Cecilia Coleman launched a pair of home runs in game two to score five RBIs in a 14-2, five-inning finish. MCSB won the opener 8-0 in six.

    Meredith College softball's Sarah Gundlach garnered the program's first USA South weekly honor this season as the Rookie Pitcher of the Week, and senior midfielder Sarah Arbes earned her third Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week selection this spring.

    Meredith College softball traveled to Newport News Sunday for a second pairing versus the now top-ranked Christopher Newport Captains in non-conference action. CNU finished game one early 11-2 and won 6-2 in the second.

    Meredith College softball collected a pair of wins Saturday at Methodist University. The Avenging Angels won game one 1-0 with an RBI-single form Bryce Smith, followed by a 5-2 victory to close out the sweep.

    In Wednesday's midweek USA South doubleheader the Meredith College softball Angels forced a split with the East Division's top ranked Pfeiffer University. Sarah Gundlach pitched a three-hit shutout for a 2-0 Angels win in game one, but the Falcons rallied for a 5-1 game two finish.

    Tuesday's home tennis match versus William Peace has been postponed to next Monday, April 8. Additionally, tomorrow's Avenging Angels softball doubleheader versus Pfeiffer University has been pushed back to a 2:45 p.m. start.

    The Meredith College softball team rallied in the sixth inning of game two to split with the visiting Salem Spirits in Sunday's USA South doubleheader. Salem claimed the first 6-1, and the Avenging Angels held on for an 8-5 victory in game two.

    The Meredith College softball team recorded their first two wins in USA South play Saturday with a pair of wins over visiting Mary Baldwin University. An infield error led to two runs in extra innings of game two to secure the sweep.

    The host Averett Cougars shut out Meredith College in Wednesday's USA South softball doubleheader, leaving the Angels still without a win in conference play.

    The host Greensboro Pride swept Meredith College in USA South doubleheader action Sunday. GC won game one 3-0 and finished with a 4-1 win for the sweep.

    The Meredith College softball team dropped both games in Thursday's final day of the Florida series. The Thomas More Saints handled MCSB 8-2, and the Wooster Fighting Scots edged Meredith 2-1.

  • Young Angels Squad Shows Promise Versus #8 Captains

    Thursday afternoon, the young Meredith College Avenging Angels hosted their second nationally ranked team in the eighth-ranked Christopher Newport Captains. CNU swept the Angels with a six-inning 13-4 win in game one, followed by a 3-0 victory to cap off the doubleheader.
  • Softball Drops Two to Quakers

    After a nearly two and one half week break from competition due to rainy weather, Meredith College returned to action Tuesday afternoon in a makeup with the Guilford Quakers. Guilford won the first 12-4 in five innings and slipped past the Angels in game two for an 8-3 victory.
