Guilford Downs Basketball 82-66

Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith basketball team welcomed non-conference foe Guilford College on Saturday.  The Quakers dispatched the Avenging Angels 82-66.  Megan Rahn has moved to 5th on the Meredith all time scoring list on Saturday with her 25 points.  She now has 1,222 points and passed Tina Harkness' 1,221 (2000-04).  Rahn is only 30 points away from moving past the fourth place scorer, Jennifer Norris at 1,252.

Guilford came out firing and put a three-point down to start the game and never lost the lead.  The Quakers (6-2) held an early 19 point lead with 12 minutes remaining but the Avenging Angels (2-3) chipped away and got it down to 11 and the Quakers held the 45-34 lead.  The second half saw Meredith keep the lead manageable until Guilford pulled ahead with about 12 minutes left to cruise to the 16 point win.

The Avenging Angels were led by double-doubles my Rahn and Rah'nika Jones.  Rahn had 25 points and 14 rebounds while Jones pulled down 14 rebounds and scored 14 more.  Bryana Holmes and Keyanka Bailey both put in eight points.  Guilford was led by Gabby Oglesby with 26 points and 11 rebounds.

Meredith next hosts Barber-Scotia on Tuesday for a mid-week day game.  Game time is 2 p.m.
