Captains Over Run Basketball in Play4Kay Game

Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith basketball team hosted USA South foe Christopher Newport on Saturday in the team's Play4Kay Game.  The game was in honor of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and a halftime raffle was held to raise funds.  The Captains took the game 80-56 to complete the season sweep of the Avenging Angels.

The Avenging Angels held tough for the first 10 minutes as they battled back and forth with CNU (17-3, 12-1 USA South).  Meredith (5-14, 3-10) took their last lead at the 9:51 mark as Kristen Alford hit a three pointer.  A 20-5 run by the Captains after that score by Alford gave CNU control of the game.  The Captains held the 46-35 halftime advantage and stayed on top in the second half to take the game.

Meredith was led by Megan Rahn with 24 points and nine rebounds.  Tyler Gresham added eight points.  CNU was led by Tia Perry with 18 points.

Meredith returns to action on Sunday as they host Greensboro College at 2 p.m.
