RALEIGH, N.C. - Meredith Avenging Angel Kim Hinton contributes the fourth article in her blog series this winter as the USA South schedule ramps up.
Now knee deep in conference play, we have enjoyed successes and endured tough losses. After a short break in December, we were back on the court getting ready for our two big road trips; one to Georgia and then back again to play in Georgia on Saturday and Alabama on Sunday. We finished 1-2 with a big win at LaGrange and losses at Piedmont and Huntingdon.
A tough loss against Methodist at home made us eager for the win against North Carolina Wesleyan in their house. McKenzi drained a last-second, short corner jumper for the 69-67 win, making us 2-3 in the USA South.
Last weekend, two big teams from the South division, Maryville and Covenant, traveled to play us. We fought hard against Maryville but came up short at the end. Determined for a conference win at home, we focused on the Covenant game the next day. We were successful versus the Scots and improved to 3-4 in conference play.
This past Thursday was the long awaited Peace game, and, despite our inability to practice both Tuesday and Wednesday due to snow, we still came home with a two-point win over the Pacers – a sweet win for all of us Avenging Angels!
