LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Senior Meghan Pleasants led the Meredith College basketball team with 16 points in a 72-55 loss to the host Randolph Wildcats. The Avenging Angels trailed by just two points in three quarters, but a tough third period spread the gap too much for Meredith to recover.
Neither team protected the ball well, as both teams tallied 27 turnovers in 40 minutes of play. But the Wildcats performed better offensively scoring 10 percent more shots from the field than Meredith. Chandler Hines netted Meredith's lone three-pointer on the night for her only points of the game.
Rookie Kimberly Schuh opened her collegiate career with double-digit points with a dozen, adding four boards and a pair of assists. Pleasants added five rebounds to her contribution, and Brittany Preston matched the effort with five of her own to go along with four points. Kirstie King and Trinity Packer combined for 15 points, and Packer recorded a team-high three assists.
Randolph's starting lineup finished with double-digit points, and Alexis Calloway led all with 13 rebounds.
The Avenging Angels face off with Pennsylvania's LaRoche College and Hardin-Simmons of Abilene, Texas, in the Guilford College Daly Seven Tip-Off this weekend. Follow the live action HERE beginning Saturday, Nov. 18, at Noon.
