Strong Second Half Closes Gap in Basketball's 73-58 Loss to Pride

RALEIGH, N.C. -- In Saturday's USA South Conference game versus the visiting Greensboro Pride, Meredith College outscored GC 35-30 in the second half to close the gap for a 73-58 loss. The Avenging Angels scored 19 from the free throw line, 10 more than the Pride, to aid in the effort.

Greensboro took advantage of Meredith's 24 turnovers to score 19 points and added 21 second chance points with 29 offensive rebounds in the win. But Meredith put up a strong fight with 18 points inside and 47 total rebounds.

Madison Gladwell entered the game from the bench to lead the Angels with 12 points. Rookie Kimberly Schuh notched 11 points, shooting seven-of-nine from the stripe, adding seven rebounds. Chandler Hines hit three three-pointers, including a last second bank shot in Meredith's first possession of the game, to finish with 11. Kirstie King and Trinity Packer grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, matching Greensboro's top-three rebounders.

The Pride finished with two players in double figures in starter Katie Lewis and Kylee Barry coming off the bench. Laprecious England, Lauren Jenkins, and Kamerin Williams tallied eight rebounds apiece.

Meredith completes the weekend doubleheader tomorrow with a 2 p.m. tipoff versus new USA South member Pfeiffer. Contests versus the East Division's Pfeiffer will not count as conference games while the Falcons continue their transition to the NCAA Division III.
