RALEIGH, N.C. -- The visiting Titans of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, ranked fifth nationally in the latest Division III polls, cruised to a 78-37 victory over Meredith College in Saturday's non-conference basketball game. Chandler Hines drained three baskets beyond the arc to lead the Angels with 11 total points on the day.
The Avenging Angels struggled from the field shooting just under 29 percent on the day. A glimpse of improvement in the second quarter lifted the Angels to 22 points heading into the break, but UW-Oshkosh turned up the heat down the stretch.
The Titans finished the game shooting 44.4 percent from three-point range with a season-best performance of 12 baskets on the day. Emma Melotik recorded five and teammate Melanie Schneider knocked down four-of-five to lead the UW-Oshkosh offense.
Meghan Pleasants led Meredith with five rebounds, three assists, but the Titans scored 23 points off 17 Angel turnovers en route to a decisive win. UW-Oshkosh protected the ball with just six missteps in 40 minutes of play and scored 30 points inside the paint to compliment their perimeter shooting success.
Rebounding was a team effort today for Meredith with all dressed players recording at least two on the day. Kimberly Schuh scored nine points on four-of-nine shooting, adding four rebounds and an assist. Katherine Holmes tallied six points with Madison Gladwell and Trinity Packer notching three apiece.
The Avenging Angels return to the hardwood after Christmas for the Roanoke Holiday Classic. Meredith will face off with Lynchburg December 30 at 4 p.m., followed by the host Maroons at 2 p.m. New Year's Eve.
