Schuh Impressive with Career-Best 35 Points in 82-70 Loss to Falcons

Kimberly Schuh

MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- Meredith College rookie Kimberly Schuh recorded an impressive career-best 35 points in an 82-70 loss at Pfeiffer University Saturday afternoon. The total bested her previous high by 10 points, scored in the pairing's first meeting back in early December.

The Falcons opened the game with a quick six-point advantage and extended that lead to double digits by the end of the first frame. Meredith trailed by as many as 19 during the second stanza, but Schuh's 15 points, including 9-9 from the charity stripe, closed the gap to 10 before halftime.

Chandler Hines and her teammates pitched in to support Schuh's career performance to pull to within seven heading into the final quarter, but the Falcons finally found a way to interrupt Schuh's night to finish off the Angels for the win.

Schuh's point total included a perfect 12-12 from the free throw line, and Hines dropped in eight with a pair of assists. Trinity Packer entered from the bench to tie her career-high eight points with nine rebounds, and Kirstie King grabbed nine boards, adding six points on the day. Meghan Pleasants dished out four assists before she was disqualified with her fifth personal foul midway through the final frame.

Falcon Sydni Bickford led Pfeiffer with 21 points, and Dejea Scott dished out 10 assists with eight rebounds.

As Pfeiffer continues to transition to Division III, today's loss will not affect Meredith's hunt for a USA South Conference Tournament invite. The Avenging Angels complete this weekend's doubleheader with a tough battle tomorrow afternoon at Greensboro. Sunday's game is slated for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
