RALEIGH, N.C. -- After securing a USA South Tournament bid in her first campaign last year as the Meredith College Head Basketball Coach, LaQuanda Quick will start this season with another small squad, including five new recruits. She and her assistant Whitney Coleman set out to improve the direction of Meredith basketball and will begin the 2019-20 campaign in Virginia.
The Angels will travel to Randolph November 9 to face off with the first of two ODAC members, followed by the University of Lynchburg Sunday. Guilford, Chris. Newport, and Winston-Salem's Piedmont International will meet MCBB on their home hardwood to close out the month. CNU won the Capital Athletic Conference title and ranked 21st nationally in the final WBCA Coaches' Poll. The Quakers entered the ODAC tournament as the top-seed but were knocked off by the eighth-seed and eventual champion Hornets. The PI Bruins compete in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and finished last season 16-12 overall with a pair of wins over USA South programs.
Meredith heads to Winston-Salem December 2 to pair up once again with Piedmont International before opening the conference campaign at home versus the Pfeiffer Falcons in a midweek contest. In the midst of the league schedule, the Avenging Angels will head to former conference foe Ferrum December 30 and cap off the winter break at Montreat College in western North Carolina January 2.
The remainder of the conference schedule runs through February 15 with a final home regular season contest versus the Methodist Monarchs. League tournament action begins the 19th with a divisional playoff round.
