Lacrosse Senior Day Ends in 19-3 Victory Over Hawks

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Sunday's Senior Day match versus the visiting Huntingdon Hawks wrapped up a conference doubleheader weekend for the Meredith College lacrosse Angels with a 19-3 victory. With just two USA South matches remaining, MC Lax leads the league 4-0. Alyssa Codispoti, Jennifer Halvorson, Molly Miller, and Katie Sills were recognized prior to the first draw.

Carlee Joseph led the match with five goals in six attempts, and Holly Hite finished with four points, four draw controls. Miller led with five assists, adding three goals in the win.

Holly Hite controlled the opening draw, and Carlee Joseph found her inside to jumpstart Meredith's first-half rally. Miller scored or assisted on the next three Meredith points, and Hite followed on a dish from Julie Capretti in the 21st minute to give MC Lax a 5-0 lead.

Sarah Arbes collected the next draw and drove straight in for an unassisted score. Miller contributed with four of the next five points, and Julie-Anne Pretty netted her 10th career goal during a Hawk penalty period. Hite and Pretty finished out the half to give the Angels a 13-0 advantage heading into the break.

Meredith continued to dominate the match after halftime with Joseph netting three of the first four goals and assisting Capretti on a fourth.

Halvorson advanced the lead to 18, and Henley Peatross scored her first career goal with Casey Sprague on the assist to finish off the Hawks.

Haley Whitfield started in goal for the Angels to earn her 10th win, and Sydney Hardee entered at the half to finish out the match. HC's Alyssa Alvarado recorded the loss.

Meredith remains in Raleigh this week for a Tuesday night match versus Ferrum. The opening draw is slated for 6 p.m. on the Angels turf. Follow the live stream and stats HERE.
