  • Joseph Named IWLCA Division III Scholar-Athlete of the Year

    The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association named Meredith College fifth-year senior Carlee Joseph the 2018 Division III Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
  • Hite Named Division III All-American
    June 12, 2018
    Meredith College rising senior midfielder Holly Hite earned the program's first All-American honor as a member of the IWLCA Division III third team. Of the 57 players named to a team, Hite was one of only four who did not play for a top-25 Division III lacrosse program, according to the final coaches poll released in late-May.
  • Joseph Earns USA South's Prestigious Scalf Award

    Meredith College student-athlete standout Carlee Joseph was named a recipient of the USA South Athletic Conference Don Scalf Award, recognizing the league's female and male Student-Athlete of the Year. Joseph completed a decorated four-year women's lacrosse career in May as she led the Avenging Angels to round two of the program's fifth consecutive NCAA tournament.
  • Joseph/Ruffin Named to IWLCA Division III Senior All-Star Team

    Meredith College standouts Carlee Joseph and Cameron Ruffin were named to the 2018 Senior All-Star roster for the Division III's South team as announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Two of 44 Division III players selected, Joseph and Ruffin will compete in the games to be held on Tierney Field at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland, Saturday, June 2.
  • Hite/Joseph Garner All-Region Honors

    Meredith College standouts Holly Hite and Carlee Joseph garnered Division III All-Chesapeake Region first team honors as announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. This marks Hite's second and Joseph's third All-Region selection.

    The Meredith College lacrosse Angels concluded the 2018 season Sunday with a 19-11 loss to second-ranked Salisbury in NCAA Division III tournament action. Holly Hite led the Avenging Angels with six goals, 11 draw controls in the loss.

    Meredith College controlled possession throughout Saturday's NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament first round action, closing a 20-9 victory over the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Mariners. Carlee Joseph led the attack with six goals, and Cameron Ruffin ignited the defense with four caused turnovers on the way to the Avenging Angels' program-first NCAA Tournament victory.
  • Lacrosse Set to Play Merchant Marine in NCAA Tourney

    As announced in Sunday night's NCAA Division III Tournament selection, the USA South Champion Meredith College lacrosse team will face off with the Merchant Marine Mariners Saturday, May 12, at 1 p.m. in round one action. USMMA captured the Skyline Conference Championship to earn the program's first trip to the tournament, while Saturday marks the Avenging Angels' fifth consecutive appearance.

    In Sunday's final regular season match Meredith College lacrosse shut out the Southwestern Pirates 24-0. Julie Capretti and Carlee Joseph scored a match-high six goals apiece to lead the Angels.

    In the first of a weekend doubleheader in Texas following a fifth consecutive USA South Conference Tournament Championship, Meredith College lacrosse picked up its fourth loss on the season versus the nationally recognized Colorado College Tigers. Carlee Joseph and Maria Codispoti led the Angels with four goals apiece in the 20-18 loss.
  • Athletic Awards Night Celebrates the Angels

    Thursday evening's Athletic Awards Night, the second in its new format, celebrated much success and dedication from student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Senior softball infielder Julia Allsbrook, the night's emcee, was recognized with the program-wide Dean Burris Student-Athlete Award, and senior lacrosse attack Carlee Joseph collected her second consecutive Athlete of the Year honor.
  • Meredith Lacrosse Captures Fifth Consecutive League Championship

    The top-seeded Meredith College Avenging Angels continued their dominance in the USA South with a 21-3 victory over second-seed Piedmont College to capture the program's fifth consecutive Conference Championship. Holly Hite earned her second honor as the tournament's Most Valuable Player, and six Angels earn All-Tournament recognition.

    The top-seeded Meredith College lacrosse Angels advanced to the USA South Conference Tournament Championship for the fifth consecutive year with a 24-6 victory over the fourth-seed Greensboro Pride. Meredith will face the second-seeded Piedmont Lions for the fifth time in the finals to defend their title.
  • Meredith Lacrosse Sweeps Top USA South Honors

    For the second time in program history, Meredith College swept the top end-of-season honors for USA South women's lacrosse. Senior attack Carlee Joseph earned her third Player of the Year honor, Lilia Cruz garnered Rookie of the Year, and Lauren Scott was named the sport's Coach of the Year.

    In Monday's USA South Conference announcement senior defender Cameron Ruffin collected her fourth women's lacrosse Defensive Player of the Year selection this spring. She set a new all-time Meredith College record Saturday with 98 career caused turnovers.
  • Top-Seeded Meredith Lacrosse Heads to LaGrange for USA South Tournament

    Meredith College captured the women's lacrosse program's third USA South Regular Season Championship with an unblemished 9-0 league record. The top-seeded Avenging Angels head to LaGrange, Georgia, next weekend with a first-round bye.

    In Saturday's soggy Senior Day Meredith College lacrosse downed the Ferrum Panthers 19-4. Carlee Joseph set a new USA South Conference record with 262 career goals and matched the current record of 346 career total points, and Cameron Ruffin established a new all-time Meredith record with 98 career caused turnovers.
  • Meredith Student-Athletes Collect $2,641 for American Cancer Society
    April 06, 2018
    The Meredith College student-athlete collected $2641 througout the spring semester for donation to the American Cancer Society as part of the USA South's spring service initiative Pennies for a Purpose. Led by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on each member campus, the conference collected a combined record-setting $20,204.93 to be donated to various organizations.

    With 94 career caused turnovers Meredith College senior defender Cameron Ruffin tied the women's lacrosse all-time record in Tuesday night's 24-0 victory over the visiting Salem Spirits. Ruffin forced four turnovers on the night to reach Danielle Lee's, '15, record.
  • Joseph/Hite Earn USA South Weekly Nod

    Carlee Joseph and Holly Hite earned a nod from the USA South Conference for their performance in the Meredith College lacrosse team's only competition last week. Joseph was named Player of the Week and Hite Defensive POW as the Avenging Angels downed Averett 27-5 last Wednesday evening.

    Senior standout Carlee Joseph matched her career-best nine goals to lead Meredith College in a 27-5 victory over the USA South's Averett Cougars. Maria Codispoti posted her second seven-point, career-high match this season with five assists, two goals.
  • Ruffin Earns USA South Women's Lacrosse Nod

    Senior standout Cameron Ruffin earned Monday's USA South Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week nod for her contribution to last week's success. Meredith College earned a pair of double-digit wins and remains the only team undefeated in conference play heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.
  • "Shots for Scott" Raises Over $2200 for American Cancer Society

    The Meredith College lacrosse team collected over $2200 for the American Cancer Society as part of Saturday's "Shots for Scott" event. MC Lax shut out the visiting Brevard Tornados 22-0 with all 23 Angels seeing time on the field.

    In Tuesday's USA South women's lacrosse match, Meredith College showed no mercy in a 24-4 victory over the Greensboro Pride to remain undefeated in the conference. Led by Carlee Joseph who scored 5-of-5 shots attempted, the Avenging Angels outshot the hosts 32-6 to dominate the match.

    The Meredith College lacrosse Angels returned to USA South action Wednesday evening to capture a 21-5 home victory over Methodist. Rookie Lilia Cruz led the match with nine points on five goals, four assists, and ranks third in the league with 15 career assists.

    The host Christopher Newport Captains compiled a 10-4 second half performance to edge Meredith College lacrosse 16-15 Saturday afternoon. Carlee Joseph led the Avenging Angels with four goals, and Holly Hite gathered a game-high 10 draw controls.
