  • Lacrosse Named 2019 Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad; Six Athletes to Honor Roll

    Six Meredith College lacrosse players were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Academic Honor Roll as announced this week. Sarah Arbes, Julia Doyle, Ansley Harris, Henley Peatross, Natalie Purcell, and Brittany Wartman led the team as an IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for the fourth year.
  • Joseph Nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year

    Meredith College is proud to announce Carlee Joseph as 1-of-585 nominees for the 2019 NCAA Woman of the Year honor and 1-of-192 from Division III. Joseph completed her women's lacrosse athletic eligibility in 2018, graduating last month from the college's dual-degree program with a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from N.C. State and mathematics from Meredith, earning the distinction of Magna Cum Laude at both institutions.
  • Fifty-Two Angels Earn All-Academic; Fourteen with Distinction

    The USA South Conference awarded fifty-two Meredith College Avenging Angels All-Academic honors as announced recently from the league office. Fourteen Angels received a "With Distinction" notation due to exceptional academic success.

    Holly Hite earned her second honor as a member of a Division III All-American team, as announced this week from the International Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Hite is 1-of-19 players named to the second team with 57 Division III women's lacrosse athletes honored.

    Meredith College lacrosse standouts Sarah Arbes and Holly Hite were named to the 2019 Senior All-Star roster for the Division III's South Team as announced Friday by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Two of 44 Division III players, Arbes and Hite will compete in the games to be held on Tierney Field at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md., Saturday, June 1.
  • Three Lacrosse Angels Earn All-Region Honors

    Three Meredith College women's lacrosse players joined a field of 256 honorees named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's Division III All-Region teams as announced Monday. Holly Hite earned her third All-Chesapeake Region award and second as a first team honoree. She was joined by first-timers Sarah Arbes on the first team and Lilia Cruz with a second team selection.
  • Angels Lacrosse Falls 13-10 to Ithaca in NCAA Action

    In their sixth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance, the Meredith College women's lacrosse team lost a hard fought 13-10 battle to the Ithaca Bombers, ranked 20th in the latest national IWLCA poll. Holly Hite maintained tradition and led the match with 10 of Meredith's 18 draw controls, scoring a team-high four goals.
  • Meredith Lacrosse Garnered Fourth Sportsmanship Honor

    The Meredith College women's lacrosse team garnered the program's fourth consecutive USA South Team Sportsmanship Award as announced Friday from the conference office. The league Student-Athlete Advisory Committee instituted the conference-wide sportsmanship awards in 2004-2005.
  • Lacrosse to Open NCAA Tournament with Ithaca Saturday

    After capturing the program's sixth consecutive USA South Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament last Saturday, the Meredith College Avenging Angels head to Lexington, Va., this weekend to open the NCAA Tournament versus the Ithaca Bombers, ranked 20th in the latest IWLCA national poll. The round one match will be played at Washington & Lee University Saturday, May 11, at 1 p.m. with the winner advancing to Sunday's pairing versus the second-ranked Generals.
  • Avenging Angels Celebrate Yearlong Successes

    Meredith College Athletics Director Jackie Myers hosted the Annual Athletics Awards Ceremony Wednesday, May 1, to recognize student-athletes with academic and athletic honors. Junior volleyball player Samantha Smith collected the program's Dean Burris Student-Athlete Award, and senior lacrosse midfielder Holly Hite garnered the Athlete of the Year.

    Meredith College lacrosse capped off the 2019 USA South regular season with a 26-1 victory Saturday afternoon over the visiting Greensboro Pride. Julie Capretti netted her 200th career goal in the Senior Day victory as she and five other Avenging Angels were recognized prior to the match.

    The Meredith College lacrosse Avenging Angels had no issues with the 22-hour rain delay leading up to Monday morning's USA South match at Piedmont College. Olivia Higgs led MC Lax with nine points, five caused turnovers, to shut out the Lions, 23-0.
