  • USA South All-Academic Honorees Announced
    June 12, 2017
    A record 76 individuals representing 61 percent of Meredith College student-athletes were named to the 2017 USA South All-Academic team as announced Monday from the conference office. The field of honorees represent each of Meredith's eight varsity sports of basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.

  • Meredith Athletes Recognized During Annual Awards Ceremony

    Meredith College Athletic Director Jackie Myers and her staff recognized the outstanding achievements of the Avenging Angels during Tuesday evening's Annual Athletic Awards Ceremony. This year's new event format included a ceremony held in the college's Jones Auditorium with a dessert reception following in the newly renovated Johnson Hall Rotunda.
  • Barkley to Take on New Role with Meredith Athletics

    Meredith College Athletic Director Jackie Myers is pleased to announce Fiona Barkley's new role as the department's assistant athletic director for advancement and external relations beginning August 1, 2017. Thanks to the NCAA Division III Strategic Alliance Matching Grant, Barkley will resign as head volleyball coach to take on a new challenge within Meredith athletics.
  • Golf Classic Rescheduled for May 8

    Due to the rainy weather forecasted for today and tomorrow, the 19th Annual Meredith College Golf Classic at Brier Creek Country Club has been postponed until Monday, May 8, 2017. The Meredith athletics department will host the full event complete with 18 holes of golf, silent auction, raffles, and dinner, beginning with check-in at 11:30 a.m. and the shotgun start at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 8.
  • USA South Conference Presidents Cup Standings

    Meredith College finished the year ranked second in final USA South Women's Presidents Cup standings, just one and one-half points behind the leader. Regular season championships in soccer, lacrosse, and softball, along with tournament titles in volleyball and lacrosse elevated the Avenging Angels point total.

    The Meredith College Athletics Department has kicked off its annual spring fundraiser “Pennies for a Purpose” in an effort to help a nonprofit of their choice. All proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will go towards the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society.

    Senior tennis player and Meredith College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President Laura Anne Hatcher joined 24 other USA South student-athletes last week at the NCAA Convention in Nashville, Tenn. For the first time the conference used NCAA grant funds to send a cohort of athletes to the annual event.

  • Championship Soccer Teams Share Common Experience

    The Meredith College soccer Angels recently enjoyed lunch and conversation with the Ligon Middle School championship girls soccer team. Invited to campus by Principal Gretta Dula as a reward for her team's success, Head Meredith Coach Paul Smith and his USA South Regular Season Championship team shared time with the young players.

Sophomore forward Jessica Wallace earned 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division III Women's All-South Atlantic Region second team honors, and junior goalie Jaisa Loch earned a third team selection.

  • Lawrence Earns All-Tournament Honor

    Meredith College defender Hannah Lawrence earned a spot on the USA South Women's Soccer All-Tournament team with her effort throughout the event. After claiming the league's East Division Regular Season Championship on a seven-game winning streak, the Avenging Angels were dismissed in the semifinals by the eventual tournament champion Lions.
  • Disappointing Tournament Loss Ends Soccer's Season Early

    Defending tournament champion and the West's third seed Piedmont College handed the East Division's top-seeded Meredith College Angels a 2-1 double-overtime loss in Friday's first USA South Women's Soccer Tournament semifinal pairing. Hannah Lawrence scored Meredith's lone goal early in the match only to have the chance at the title once again stripped away midway through a second extra period.
  • Padilla/DeBellis Lead Soccer to 1-0 Win Over Cougars; Meredith to Host Semis/Championship

    Olivia DeBellis found Cassie Padilla for the only goal in Saturday's USA South East Division quarterfinal as the top-seeded Meredith College Angels downed the fifth-seeded Averett Cougars. Meredith advanced to the semifinals as the host institution for the final two rounds of tournament action November 4-5.
  • Seven Soccer Angels Honored with USA South End-of-Season Award

    Seven Meredith College Avenging Angels earned USA South Women's Soccer end-of-season awards as announced Thursday from the conference office. Head Coach Paul Smith collected his fourth Coach of the Year honor and third consecutive after directing his team to a third consecutive regular season crown.

    The USA South Women's Soccer East Division Champion Meredith College Avenging Angels will host the fifth-seeded Averett Cougars in a tournament quarterfinal pairing Saturday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. Averett defeated fifth-seeded N.C. Wesleyan to advance.

    Jessica Wallace collected her second USA South Women's Soccer Player of the Week honor as announced Monday from the league office. She tallied four goals in a 3-0 week as Meredith College clinched the East Division Regular Season Championship.
  • Soccer Angels Clinch USA South East Division on Senior Day

    The Meredith College soccer team clinched the program's third consecutive title as the USA South East Division Champions. Head Coach Paul Smith and his staff honored seniors Meghan Ingram, Ellice Johnson, Meredith McCarty, Nicole Miller, and Brooke Verburg at halftime of the 14-0 victory over visiting Mary Baldwin.
  • Soccer Downs Ferrum 1-0 in OT to Lead USA South East Division

    Jessica Wallace and Meghan Ingram paired up for a goal in the fourth minute of overtime to lead Meredith College soccer in a 1-0 victory over the visiting Ferrum Panthers. The win marked the sixth consecutive for Meredith and moved the Avenging Angels into first in USA South East Division standings with one match remaining in the regular season.
  • Soccer Extends Winning Streak with 2-1 Victory Over Cougars

    The Meredith College squad extended their winning streak to five Wednesday night with a 2-1 victory over the visiting Averett Cougars. The win moves the Angels into second place behind Ferrum with the two teams set to face off Saturday in Raleigh.
  • Angels' Defense Tames the Pride 1-0

    The Meredith College Avenging Angels soccer team defeated the Greensboro College Pride 1-0 off of an impressive defensive performance led by Kirstie King. Jessica Wallace scored the lone goal for the Angels as she headed a corner into the back of the net just out of reach of the Greensboro keeper.
  • Freshmen Angels Lead Soccer in 2-0 Shutout Over William Peace
    October 15, 2016
    Meredith College freshmen Haley Andrews and Hannah Elvington each scored a goal in a 2-0 victory over the visiting William Peace Pacers in Saturday's USA South women's soccer action. The win marks the third consecutive for the Avenging Angels and the fourth in the last five contests as Meredith remains in the hunt for a top seed in the approaching conference tournament.
  • Soccer Requires OT to Down Bishops
    October 11, 2016
    In Tuesday's USA South match at N.C. Wesleyan, postponed from the weekend due to Hurricane Matthew, the Meredith College soccer team scored late in the second overtime period to hold on for their fifth conference win on the season.
