Tennis Competes in N.C. Wesleyan Fall Tournament

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Meredith College closed out the fall season with USA South foes N.C. Wesleyan and Methodist at the Bishop's Fall Tournament Saturday. Avenging Angels Jacqueline Benton, Gillian Emerson, Sandra Taranhike, and Emily Wilkinson each finished 2-1 on the day to lead Meredith. Match play included the singles tournament reflected in the results, along with two doubles matches (details below).

After falling 8-0 in her first match, Sarah Du Bose closed out a 9-7 battle over N.C. Wesleyan's Leigh Hales for a 1-1 finish on the day. Kassidy Pitchford opened the morning with an 8-3 loss to Methodist but claimed back-to-back wins for a 2-1 tournament record.

In doubles action Taranhike partnered with Bishop's Hales to defeat Meredith duo Wilkinson/Emerson. Benton and Pitchford edged Taranhike/Hales 6-5 (7-2).

The Avenging Angels open the spring campaign in February.
