RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College tennis team capped off a tripleheader weekend Sunday with a 6-3 victory over the visiting Pfeiffer Falcons. Avenging Angels four, five, and six won singles and doubles to secure the win.
Meredith captured wins on courts two and three in doubles play for an early 2-1 lead over Pfeiffer. Gillian Emerson and Emily Wilkinson knocked off Juliana Batah and Sydney Honeycutt, 8-1, while Logan King and Alexandra Cheney paired up to down Madison Furr and Maddie Hatley.
King extended the Angels' lead to 3-1 finishing off Hatley with a 6-0, 6-1 win at no. 5, and Wilkinson dropped just three games in her win on court four. Cheney secured the win on six, and Elizabeth Johnson outlasted Ally Delaney in an 11-9 second tiebreaker to claim the sixth point on court three.
The Avenging Angels enjoy a much deserved week off from competition before traveling Saturday, March 25, to Methodist University.
