GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Meredith College tennis team finished off the host Pride of Greensboro College 8-1 in Saturday's USA South action.

Each of the Avenging Angels doubles teams handled the Pride to enter singles with a 3-0 lead. Logan King and Alexandra Cheney swept their opponents at court three, and Gillian Emerson and Emily Wilkinson dropped just one point at no. 2.

On court two Jacqueline Benton swept Caroline Price in singles play, and Johnson finished off Rachel Hamilton 6-1, 6-1 on court three. Courts four, five, and six earned 6-0, 6-1 wins to secure the match victory. Emerson battled Anna Rae Porcelli 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 at the number one spot but was unable to swing the match in her favor.

Next up the Angels host Averett University Wednesday afternoon in a 3 p.m. pairing. Saturday's doubleheader versus William Peace will feature a celebration of senior Jacqueline Benton prior to the Noon pairing.
