Tennis Falls to NCCU; League Tournament Begins Friday

DURHAM, N.C. -- As the Meredith College tennis team prepares for Friday's start of the USA South Tournament, the Avenging Angels traveled to N.C. Central University Wednesday for a pairing with the Division I Eagles. Central swept the Angels for a 7-0 win.

Gillian Emerson and Emily Wilkinson captured a point on court two in doubles play. In singles action Logan King earned a point in each set, and Alexandra Cheney battled for a 6-2, 6-3 finish on court five.

As the USA South's East Division third-seed, the Avenging Angels meet West second-seed Huntingdon for a rematch in round one action. The Hawks defeated Meredith in a 5-4 battle in round one of the 2017 league tournament. The match is set to take place at the McCluskey Tennis Center in LaGrange, Georgia, beginning at 10 a.m.
