LAGRANGE, Ga. -- The USA South Women's Tennis Tournament run for the East Division fourth-seed Meredith College Avenging Angels ended early with a 5-0 loss to the West's top-seed Piedmont Lions Friday afternoon.

Piedmont claimed doubles courts one and two dropping just one game between the pair. On court three Emily Wilkinson and Alexandra Cheney forced their match to an 8-3 loss to give the Lions a three-game advantage heading into singles.

With USA South Women's Tournament matches now played to decision, Piedmont needed just two singles matches for the win. Maggie Moody downed Wilkinson 6-0, 6-1 on court five, and Logan King lost 6-0, 6-0 to Samantha Lowry to give PC the win.

The regionally ranked Lions advanced to semifinal action Saturday versus Methodist, and Meredith closed out their 2019 season 6-10 on the year.
