Sprinters Lead Avenging Angels Track & Field at Coastal Carolina Invite

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Essence Thomas led the Meredith College Avenging Angels track & field team Saturday with three season-best sprint finishes in the Coastal Carolina Invitational.

Demonica Stanley tossed the javelin for a career-best distance and second all-time at Meredith with 29.82 meters.

Thomas dropped 0.22 off her 100 meter time and 0.38 off her 200 meter pace. Her first time lining up this year for the 400 meter dash, her 1:03.33 finish knocked nearly four seconds off the best Avenging Angels finish thus far.

Rachel Hill set a career-best time of 29.40 seconds in the 200 meter dash, and Allie Bucknam's 30.33 finish was also a new PR. Bucknam also set a new career-best in the 400 meter sprint with a time of 1:07.07. And rookie Isabelle Pasley knocked more than 11 seconds off her 800 meter time. Meredith Wyatt also recorded a season-best performance in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:55.73.

The Avenging Angels ran a strong 3000 meter race with PRs from Megan Evans, Emma Travis, and Rachel Hill. Macy Brinson led the quad with a finish in just under 12 minutes.
