VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Meredith College volleyball Angels opened the 2016 campaign with a pair of wins at the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament. Meredith claimed a 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-22) non-conference win over the Ferrum Panthers and capped off Friday evening with a 3-2 (18-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-12, 15-10) victory over former USA South foe Shenandoah.
Karlie Long led the Angels with 20 kills on the day, adding nine digs and three blocks. Haley Reeg boasted a .424 hitting percentage with 16 kills adding six blocks, and Alex Hafliger tallied 17 kills with a combined team high seven blocks, adding a trio of service aces.
Meredith opens day-two of the tournament with Mt. Aloysius at 10 a.m., followed by a 2 p.m. start versus the host Marlins. Meredith's match with Virginia Wesleyan will be available live HERE.
