  • Avenging Angels Celebrate Yearlong Successes

    Meredith College Athletics Director Jackie Myers hosted the Annual Athletics Awards Ceremony Wednesday, May 1, to recognize student-athletes with academic and athletic honors. Junior volleyball player Samantha Smith collected the program's Dean Burris Student-Athlete Award, and senior lacrosse midfielder Holly Hite garnered the Athlete of the Year.

  • Corey Earns All-State Selection

    Junior outside hitter Caroline Corey was named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association's 2018 College Division All-State Women's Volleyball second team. She was one of 14 players who received the recognition and the only one representing NCAA Division III.
  • Corey Named to All-South Region

    Meredith College standout and USA South Player of the Year Caroline Corey received Division III All-South Region honorable mention recognition Thursday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. This marks Corey's second All-Region selection.

    With a 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-17) loss to the Emory Eagles, ranked ninth in the latest Division III national poll, the Meredith College volleyball team completes a strong season. Junior outside hitter Caroline Corey notched her 1000th career kill in the NCAA Tournament loss.
  • Volleyball Readies for NCAA Tournament Pairing with Eagles

    The Meredith College volleyball Angels captured the program's second USA South Conference Tournament Championship last weekend and earned the league's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. MCVB drew the Emory University Eagles in first-round action and will face off Friday, Nov. 9, at 12:30 p.m. in the Mount Berry Regional at Berry College. Eight teams will compete in the Georgia regional with 64 teams overall in the bracket.
  • MCVB Wins Second League Title with 3-0 Win Over Lions

    The East top-seed Meredith College Avenging Angels captured the program's second USA South Volleyball Tournament Championship Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-20) victory over West fourth-seed Piedmont. Junior middle Cathy Delano garnered the tournament's Most Valuable Player honor hitting .389 during the postseason action with 28 kills, eight blocks, six service aces, and six digs.
  • Volleyball Heads to USA South Championship

    With a 3-1 (28-26, 25-19, 24-26, 25-23) victory over the West third-seed Maryville Scots, the East top-seed Meredith College Angels head to the USA South Volleyball Championship for the second time in three years to battle for a second conference title. League Player of the Year Caroline Corey led the Avenging Angels with 17 kills, and Haley Reeg notched seven with no errors, hitting .636 on the night.
  • Corey/Barkley Lead Angels with USA South Volleyball Top Honors

    After claiming a share of the USA South East Division Regular Season Championship last week, the Meredith College volleyball program collected more honors Thursday with the announcement of conference volleyball awards. Junior outside hitter Caroline Corey earned her second individual honor and MCVB's first as the Player of the Year, and Head Coach Fiona Barkley garnered Coach of the Year honors. Both awards mark a first for Meredith volleyball and lead a slate of MCVB recognition.

    The East Division top-seed Meredith College volleyball Avenging Angels captured a 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-16) victory in Tuesday night's USA South quarterfinal pairing with fifth-seed Methodist. As the highest remaining seed, MCVB earned the privilege to host conference tournament semifinal and Championship matches this weekend.

    Meredith College sophomore Lauren Phillips collected her first USA South Volleyball weekly honor as this week's Defensive Player of the Week. The Avenging Angels closed out the regular season with a share of the USA South East Division Championship.

    The USA South's East Division Regular Season Co-Champion Meredith College Angels enter next week's tournament action as the top-seed by virtue of a coin toss. MCVB will host a conference tournament doubleheader Tuesday, Oct. 30, beginning at 5 p.m. The Avenging Angels will play the round one winner at 7:30 p.m. in Weatherspoon Gym.
  • Pacers Hand Volleyball 3-0 Loss to End Victory Run

    The Meredith College volleyball Angels ended a 15-match winning streak with a disappointing 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-16) loss to cross-town rival William Peace. A hometown crowd helped the Pacers shutdown MCVB's attack percentage to its lowest since week-one.

    The Meredith College volleyball Angels captured their 15th consecutive victory Tuesday night with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-17) sweep at Salem. Three defenders in double-digits led MCVB to the win.

    After a 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-9) sweep over Mary Baldwin, the Meredith College volleyball Angels pulled out a three-set comeback to defeat Methodist 3-2 (19-25, 13-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-11). The pair of wins mark the 13th and 14th consecutive for MCVB, all in USA South action.

    Meredith College outside hitter Caroline Corey earned her second USA South Women's Volleyball Player of the Week nod this fall as announced Monday from the conference office. This marks Corey's sixth career weekly honor.

    The Meredith College volleyball squad extended their winning streak to 11 with two USA South wins Saturday versus the host Greensboro Pride and the Pfeiffer Falcons. Caroline Corey was the big hitter on the day for MCVB with a combined 26 kills.

    Meredith College battled from behind to finish off the visiting Averett Cougars 3-2 (25-19, 20-25, 21-25, 25-16, 16-14). The win leaves MCVB leading the USA South East Division with nine consecutive wins.

    After a sluggish start in Thursday's USA South pairing versus the visiting Salem Spirits, the Meredith College volleyball squad held on for a 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 26-24) victory. The win marked the team's eighth consecutive for an 8-0 league record to lead the East Division.

    Meredith College finished off the host N.C. Wesleyan Battling Bishops 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-20) in Wednesday night's USA South volleyball match. Senior middle Haley Reeg put up five of the Angels' 12 blocks to hold off the Bishops.

    Emily Skoglund recorded match-high digs in Saturday's USA South play day to lead the Meredith College volleyball squad to a pair of victories. MCVB downed Pfeiffer 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-20) and finished off Greensboro 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-16).

    After an unexpected break due to hurricane Florence, Meredith College volleyball put away rival Averett University in straight sets (25-11, 25-14, 25-19) to open the USA South schedule Wednesday evening. Ally Copenhaver led the offensive production for the Angels landing eight kills on the night.

  • Corey Collects League Honor

    Meredith College junior outside hitter Caroline Corey was named the USA South Volleyball Player of the Week as announced Monday afternoon from the conference office. Corey led the Avenging Angels to a 3-1 record last week, all versus non-league opponents, averaging 3.80 kills with a .295 hitting percentage and 2.00 digs per set.

    The Meredith College volleyball team split in today's action at this weekend's Brevard Tournament. A 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-11) sweep over the Emory & Henry Wasps was followed by a 3-2 loss to Guilford (22-25, 23-25, 25-12, 25-13, 11-15).
