RALEIGH, N.C. -- Meredith College outside hitter Caroline Corey earned her second USA South Women's Volleyball Player of the Week nod this fall as announced Monday from the conference office. This marks Corey's sixth career weekly honor.
Corey led the Angels offense to a 3-0 week to extend the team's winning streak to 11 matches this fall. MCVB remains the only undefeated team remaining in the conference across both divisions with about a week left in regular season play.
Corey averaged 4.00 kills and 2.55 digs per set to lead the Avenging Angels last week, and she ranks first in the league with 3.59 kills per set. In a 3-2 win over Averett, Corey recorded 18 kills, eight digs, and one assist. In a 3-0 victory over Greensboro, Corey notched 11 kills, eight digs, one block, and one service ace. Finally, in a 3-0 win over Pfeiffer, Corey notched a double-double of 15 kills and 12 digs.
The Avenging Angels return to action Wednesday, Oct. 17, on their home court versus N.C. Wesleyan. The coaching staff and players will celebrate senior Haley Reeg just prior to the first serve scheduled for 7 p.m.
