  • USA South All-Academic Honorees Announced
    June 12, 2017
    A record 76 individuals representing 61 percent of Meredith College student-athletes were named to the 2017 USA South All-Academic team as announced Monday from the conference office. The field of honorees represent each of Meredith's eight varsity sports of basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.
  • Meredith Athletes Recognized During Annual Awards Ceremony

    Meredith College Athletic Director Jackie Myers and her staff recognized the outstanding achievements of the Avenging Angels during Tuesday evening's Annual Athletic Awards Ceremony. This year's new event format included a ceremony held in the college's Jones Auditorium with a dessert reception following in the newly renovated Johnson Hall Rotunda.
  • Barkley to Take on New Role with Meredith Athletics

    Meredith College Athletic Director Jackie Myers is pleased to announce Fiona Barkley's new role as the department's assistant athletic director for advancement and external relations beginning August 1, 2017. Thanks to the NCAA Division III Strategic Alliance Matching Grant, Barkley will resign as head volleyball coach to take on a new challenge within Meredith athletics.
  • Golf Classic Rescheduled for May 8

    Due to the rainy weather forecasted for today and tomorrow, the 19th Annual Meredith College Golf Classic at Brier Creek Country Club has been postponed until Monday, May 8, 2017. The Meredith athletics department will host the full event complete with 18 holes of golf, silent auction, raffles, and dinner, beginning with check-in at 11:30 a.m. and the shotgun start at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 8.
  • USA South Conference Presidents Cup Standings

    Meredith College finished the year ranked second in final USA South Women's Presidents Cup standings, just one and one-half points behind the leader. Regular season championships in soccer, lacrosse, and softball, along with tournament titles in volleyball and lacrosse elevated the Avenging Angels point total.

    Meredith College athletics newest Head Coach Leslie Payne was featured in the college's latest series of promoting faculty and staff Going Strong. Payne joined Meredith in fall 2015 as the head coach of cross country and track & field.
  • Meredith Athletics Kicks Off Pennies for a Purpose Fundraiser

    The Meredith College Athletics Department has kicked off its annual spring fundraiser “Pennies for a Purpose” in an effort to help a nonprofit of their choice. All proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will go towards the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society.

  • Hatcher Represents Meredith at NCAA Convention

    Senior tennis player and Meredith College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President Laura Anne Hatcher joined 24 other USA South student-athletes last week at the NCAA Convention in Nashville, Tenn. For the first time the conference used NCAA grant funds to send a cohort of athletes to the annual event.

    The Meredith College cross country Angels head to Berry College in Rome, Ga. this weekend for the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional meet. Led by All-Conference first team honorees Itzel Gonzalez and Abigail Thiele, the Avenging Angels will face off with 44 teams, including eight from the USA South.

    The Meredith College Avenging Angels finished second in Saturday's USA South Women's Cross Country Championship meet behind the host Piedmont Lions. Abigail Thiele and Itzel Gonzalez led the way for Meredith finishing fifth and seventh, respectively.
  • Cross Country Set to Defend Three-Time Championship Saturday

    The Meredith College cross country team will defend a three-year series of USA South Championships Saturday, Oct. 29 in Demorest, Ga. Host Piedmont College welcomes 13 conference women's teams to town for the championship meet this weekend. The men open at 11 a.m. with an 8,000 meter course at TFS Farm in Tallulah Falls, followed by the women's 6,000 meter race at Noon.

    With the USA South Championships just three weeks away, Saturday's Piedmont College Invite offered a peak at this year's competitive field. Meredith College posted a fourth-place finish with Itzel Gonzalez and Abigail Thiele leading the way. The host Lions won the race with soon-to-be league member Pfeiffer in second and Covenant third.

    Meredith College Athletic Director Jackie Myers announced Monday the return of Jenna Pepe to the athletics staff, now in a full-time role as assistant track & field/head strength & conditioning coach. Pepe stepped in briefly last spring to help the new track & field Avenging Angels finish out their first season as a varsity program.

  • Brinson Leads Cross Country Angels in Wingate Stampede

    Sophomore standout Macy Brinson led the Meredith College cross country Angels in Wingate University's 6,000 meter Bulldog Stampede Saturday morning. In her second best career 6K finish, Brinson crossed the line in 21st out of 68 harriers in a time of 25:27.60.

    The Meredith College cross country team will takeover the USA South Instagram account this weekend. The conference initiated the takeovers in an effort to give fans a student-athlete's perspective of what life is like on road trips, and the Avenging Angels will share their experience during a trip to Wingate University.

    Macy Brinson led the Meredith College cross country Angels to a second-place finish at the Monarch Classic Saturday morning. With 33 points host Methodist University edged Meredith by 27 points to claim the victory, and Frances Marion followed in third with 72.
