  • Athletic Awards Night Celebrates the Angels

    Thursday evening's Athletic Awards Night, the second in its new format, celebrated much success and dedication from student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Senior softball infielder Julia Allsbrook, the night's emcee, was recognized with the program-wide Dean Burris Student-Athlete Award, and senior lacrosse attack Carlee Joseph collected her second consecutive Athlete of the Year honor.
  • Meredith Student-Athletes Collect $2,641 for American Cancer Society

    The Meredith College student-athlete collected $2641 througout the spring semester for donation to the American Cancer Society as part of the USA South's spring service initiative Pennies for a Purpose. Led by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on each member campus, the conference collected a combined record-setting $20,204.93 to be donated to various organizations.

  • Maziejka Joins Meredith Athletics Staff

    Athletic Director Jackie Myers recently announced the addition of Samantha Maziejka (ma JAKE uh) to the Meredith College athletics department as the assistant athletic director for advancement. The position was added to the staff last August as part of the NCAA Division III Strategic Alliance Matching Grant.
  • Cross Country Angels Earn Academic Honor

    The Meredith College cross country team collected their fifth national honor for academic achievement as announced recently from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) headquarters. Overall, the USTFCCCA recognized 388 teams, including 221 women's programs.
  • Meredith Basketball Hosts Championship Celebration

    The visiting N.C. Wesleyan Bishops shut down the Meredith College basketball team in the fourth quarter to capture a 72-59 victory in Weatherspoon Gymnasium Saturday. During halftime of the USA South contest, the athletics department celebrated the success of eight championship teams between fall 2015 and fall 2017.

  • Meredith College Student-Athletes Donate Food to Raleigh Rescue Mission

    Efforts from the Meredith College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will provide the Raleigh Rescue Mission with more than 1500 items of non-perishable food this holiday season. The Avenging Angels collected the items as part of the USA South SAAC's service initiative Cans Across the Conference, a competition among member schools to effect change in communities across the league's six-state footprint.
  • NCAA XC Regionals Lands Brinson in Second All-Time at Meredith

    In Saturday's NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Championship, Macy Brinson's 6,000 meter time of 24:00.1 set the second-best all-time record at Meredith College. She was joined by five teammates who established new personal records, including four who advanced up the college's top-25 performance list.
  • Four XC Angels Advance on Meredith's All-Time Performance List at USA South Meet

    Four Meredith College cross country Angels advanced on the college's All-Time performance list with a sixth-place finish in today's USA South Championship meet. Leader Macy Brinson scored 14th in the race to earn All-Conference second team honors, and Caroline Diorio earned honorable mention recognition as 28th out of the 125 runners.
  • Cross Country Heads to USA South Championship Saturday

    Three-time conference champion Meredith College will travel to Tallulah Falls, Georgia, this weekend for the USA South Women's Cross Country Championship meet at Tallulah Falls School Farm course. Hosted by Piedmont College for the second consecutive year, the women race a 6,000 meter course beginning at 11 a.m., and the men follow at Noon for 8,000 meters.
  • Four Angels Establish New Standards at VertCross Invite

    Junior Macy Brinson led the Meredith College harriers with a season-best pace of 25:00.94 in the 6,000 meter High Point VertCross Invitational. She finished 85th out of 141 runners in a largely NCAA Division I field.
  • A Tribute to Doc Huber

    Meredith College athletics mourns the loss of longtime softball coach, Dr. Jack "Doc" Huber. A beloved psychology professor, he retired in 2011 after more than 30 years of service to Meredith College. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in Jones Chapel.

    Caroline Diorio led the Meredith College Avenging Angels in Saturday's Christopher Newport Cross Country Invite. The Angels will run the same course next month in the NCAA South/Southeast Regionals.
  • Brinson Paces Cross Country at Wingate Stampede

    The lone NCAA Division III participant in Saturday's Wingate Stampede, the Meredith College cross country Angels placed 10th out of 19 teams with Macy Brinson leading the pack. Brinson finished 38th in the field of 132 runners with time of 25:50.68.

    Meredith College placed fourth in Friday's Adidas Cross Country Challenge at WakeMed Park. Junior Macy Brinson and rookie Karen Perez led the Angels in 16th and 24th, respectively.

    Meredith College cross country rookie Karen Perez led the Angels in the 6,000 meter Furman Classic Saturday morning. With a time of 26:05.56, Perez reached 16th on Meredith's Top-25 list.
  • Brinson Leads Strong Start for Cross Country Angels at Elon Opener

    The Meredith College cross country Angels kicked off the 2017 campaign at the 4,000m Elon Opener Saturday morning. Macy Brinson led the charge for Meredith with a pace of 17:39 alongside USA South foe Averett University and 10 NCAA Division I opponents.
  • Cross Country Tabbed Fourth in Preseason Poll

    Meredith College was tabbed fourth in the recently released USA South Women's Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll. Under the third-year direction of Head Coach Leslie Payne, the Avenging Angels returned this fall with top runners Macy Brinson, Caroline Diorio, and Megan Evans leading the team and will attempt to shake up league expectations. Meredith placed second in last year's championship meet behind this year's top pick and defending champion Piedmont Lions.
  • New Slate of SAAC Officers Readies for the Year

    The Meredith College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) introduced a new slate of officers Wednesday. Senior lacrosse forward Carlee Joseph will lead the group as organization president. Senior volleyball setter Hannah Blaylock will serve as vice-president, and her teammate Haley Reeg, a junior middle blocker, will serve as secretary of the group.

    The Meredith College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be sponsored by two new athletics staff members beginning fall 2017 in Head Softball Coach Kim Scavone and Assistant Cross Country/Track & Field Coach Gene Meade. The two look forward to offering fresh perspective to the Avenging Angels in an effort to re-energize the NCAA-driven organization.
  • Sir Walter Miler Returns to Fast Meredith Track Friday Night

    The Meredith College athletic field and track venue will once again serve as the site for the Sir Walter Miler, Raleigh's premiere racing event now in its fourth year. Brothers Sandy and Logan Roberts, along with friends Jeff Caron and Pat Price, who's wife graduated from Meredith, created and continue to enhance the event.
  • Online Access Ready for Student-Athlete Forms
    July 24, 2017
    The online portal for new and returning Meredith College student-athletes to complete or update required medical forms is now available. Additionally, new Avenging Angels should complete the student-athlete profile form and register FREE with the NCAA Eligibility Center. The schedule for required ImPact and prescreening testing should also be reviewed.
  • Edwards Assumes Leadership Role with Meredith Sports Medicine

    Meredith College Athletic Director Jackie Myers recently announced the promotion of Rebecca Edwards to interim head athletic trainer. A two-year assistant with the Avenging Angels sports medicine staff, Edwards succeeded Tammy Holleman, who left the college to pursue other opportunities.
  • Expanded USA South Footprint Leads to Adjusted Divisional Structure

    The USA South Athletic Conference welcomed three new members this summer in Berea College, Brevard College, and Pfeiffer University. The expanded footprint resulted in an adjusted divisional format as announced from the conference office early this week.
