CARY, N.C. -- Meredith College placed fourth in Friday's Adidas Cross Country Challenge at WakeMed Park. Junior Macy Brinson and rookie Karen Perez led the Angels in 16th and 24th, respectively.

The Avenging Angels finished as the top NCAA Division III program and followed only Bull City Track Club, N.C. State University Club, and Fayetteville State University, a Division II program. USA South teams Salem, N.C. Wesleyan, and William Peace placed 7th, 9th, and 11th overall.

Brinson was bested by just one Division III runner, Emily Latimer of Virginia Wesleyan, and Perez landed on Meredith's All-Time 6K list as the program's 15th best 5,000m runner.

Caroline Diorio and Megan Evans crossed the line back-to-back with Diorio in a time of 22:15.6 and Evans less than 10 seconds later. Freshman Rachel Hill closed out the scoring for the Angels in a time of 23:28.3, and Emma Travis crossed followed Hill four seconds later. Allie Buckman, Ana Lucia Rodriguez-Salazar, and Meredith Wyatt completed the Meredith squad.

The team travels next Saturday to Wingate, North Carolina, for the Bulldog Stampede. Last year Meredith placed fifth among the Division II field.
