Brinson Leads Angel Harriers to Second Place at Stampede

WINGATE, N.C. -- Macy Brinson brought home an eighth-place medal for her performance in Saturday's 6,000 meter Wingate Bulldog Stampede. She led the Meredith College harriers to a second-place overall finish out of six teams.

Wingate won the race with 19 points, and Meredith tallied 59 for second. USA South foe William Pace finished sixth as the only other Division III team to score, while league members Pfeiffer and Brevard both competed with individual runners.

Brinson posted a time of 26:23.74, and Megan Evans followed in 11th with a time of 27:07.62.

Allie Bucknam and Caroline Diorio crossed the line back-to-back for a pair of top-15 finishes with Bucknam clearing the line just under 31 seconds earlier.

Ana Lucia Rodriguez-Salazar and Emma Travis posted top-20 times, as Travis trailed by less than a minute for 19th. Rookie Mitxi Ortiz placed 21st, and Meredith Wyatt held on for 23rd for the Angels. Freshman Isabelle Pasley remained on pace to close out the Meredith runners in 35th.

The Avenging Angels will preview the USA South Championship course next weekend at Maryville College, and the women start at 9 a.m.
